Ornamentals
Ornamental plants and shrubs can perform very well in micropropagation. With some plant varieties being preferentially cultivated by means of tissue culture due to sterility of flowers, micropropagation is becoming an essential tool for the breeder and grower alike.
The need for 'conventional' propagation via cuttings can, in many cases be replaced by a programme of micropropagation leading to uniformity of plants ready for weaning into peat.
